I'm a girl with a wide variety of skills and an eye for detail. I'm passionate about making websites easier to use and more beautiful to behold.

How I work

I hand-code most of my websites in web-standards-based HTML and progressive CSS. I write my designs so they're based on semantics, which optimizes them for search engines. This makes it easy for any developer to maintain, and makes it more likely that you'll appear at the top of the results for Google and other search engines.

Background

I'm currently studying for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC. I'm originally from Vancouver, and I plan to practise web design on a professional level. I have been teaching myself web and graphics design for nearly seven years, starting from the very basics. I have formal training in the programming end of the web development spectrum, and I have taken courses in design and art for the design end.

Most of my previous projects have been personal projects, but I have been the formal webmaster for many of my clubs in the past. I also worked for Indigo Books and Music Co. in Toronto as a coop student, working as an Online Production Coordinator. Here, I updated design and content for a pre-existing corporate website, and I deployed marketing emails for a variety of mailing lists. Please visit my LinkedIn profile or view my CV.
